Film Screening: Women's Work, National Galleries of Scotland, Hawthornden Lecture Theatre

Women’s Work is a new documentary directed by BAFTA award-winning filmmaker Nicola Black, about internationally acclaimed Scottish artist Caroline Walker. Walker’s paintings explore the diverse social, economic and cultural experiences of women living in contemporary society. 

 

The hour-long film follows Walker over the past 5 years as she creates work around themes of childcare and nurture in relation to women’s work. The film features the artist’s major painting Theatre, 2021, recently acquired by the National Galleries of Scotland and on view as part of our free displays of modern and contemporary art at Modern One

 

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the artist.
