Our latest rotation of works on paper includes a wonderful selection of engravings, etchings and watercolours by artists including Marcantonio Raimondi and Muirhead Bone. Also on show are ink-and-wash drawings by David Hamilton and screenprints by Brendan Neiland.
The rotation also provides an opportunity to display a new acquisition, Preparing for Laurie I by Caroline Walker. Gifted to The Hunterian in 2024, the painting will be on display from Tuesday 6 October, alongside works by Berthe Morisot, Katherine Cameron and Jessie M King.
Together, these works explore themes of care, family, creativity and observation. From Renaissance ideals of morality to contemporary experiences of motherhood, they show how artists have found meaning in everyday life.
